Armstrong easily won his 7th Tour de France in front of Ivan Basso and Jan Ullrich before retiring. Armstrong dominated the race from start to finish, taking the overall lead after the fourth stage and never relinquishing it.

He will be downgraded a few years later after the revelations of the American on the practice of doping within his team. Nevertheless this yellow jersey is historic as it is the last one worn by Lance Armstrong.
