That year, Thévenet succeeded in winning the Tour de France in front of Belgian champion Eddy Merckx. Thevenet’s most impressive performance came in stage 14 of the race, a mountainous stage in the Pyrenees.

Thevenet attacked on the climb up to the finish at Pra-Loup, pulling away from his rivals and winning the stage by more than two minutes.

A feat that he would repeat two years later in  the tour de France 1977! This is a yellow jersey you need to get for your collection!
