In that year, Bartali won the Giro d’Italia, one of the most prestigious races in cycling, for the third time in his career. He also won the Gran Premio di Lugano, the Giro di Toscana, and the Trofeo Baracchi, among other races.

Bartali’s performance in the 1951 Tour de France, however, was not as successful as his Giro d’Italia victory. He finished in second place overall, behind Hugo Koblet of Switzerland.

Bartali did win two stages of the Tour de France, including the individual time trial, but was not able to take the overall victory. Overall, Bartali’s 1951 season was impressive and cemented his status as one of the greatest cyclists of his era.
